Well, this is a little late, but given that we are back to Winter again...
You should be able to google some reasonable and easily accommodated indoor exercises to enhance your track skills. I would suggest you work your flexibility and do stretching exercises over the winter, also things to improve your speed like ladder drills/shuffles, and resisted running where someone/something is holding you back might be a good place to start.
I kind of forgot about this forum, did you end up joining track? How did it go?
